💬 Best Advice? Don’t stop. Whether it’s a tricky trail, a tough day, or bad weather—keep riding, keep learning, and keep pushing forward
How did your mountain biking journey begin? What got you hooked on riding?
I started riding singletrack back when Silver Star Mountain first opened for mountain biking (yes, it was the ’90s!). Riding a hardtail down a black run back then was intense! I was never into team sports, but mountain biking gave me the perfect mix—building physical strength while still enjoying the social side of a group sport.
If you had to describe your riding style in one word, what would it be—and why?
“Seasoned.” I’ve been riding for a long time, so my approach is calm, structured, and focused.
Who or what has inspired you the most in your mountain biking journey?
Moving to Revelstoke, I found an incredible group of women who share a passion for biking (and dogs!). The friendships, encouragement, and shared challenges keep me motivated. There’s nothing better than cheering each other on to try something new.
What’s the best thing about mountain biking for you? What keeps you coming back for more?
Staying fit and refining my skills. When I was younger, I just plowed over obstacles—now, I focus on technique, making my riding more efficient and controlled.
Tell us about your teaching and coaching experience.
My first coaching role was at an indoor climbing wall, but this is my first year officially teaching mountain biking. That said, I’ve been actively involved in women’s group rides in Revelstoke, always the one cheering others on and encouraging them to take on new challenges. These group rides truly feed my soul!
How would you describe your coaching style? What makes your approach unique?
My superpower is adapting instructions to different personality types and ensuring no one gets left behind.
What’s a fun fact or quirky trait that makes you, you?
I started racing Women’s Enduro in my (very) late 30s, and I love pushing myself to improve every year. That race-day adrenaline rush is unbeatable!
What’s your all-time favorite trail—and what makes it special?
I love technical trails—both up and down. If I had to choose one, it would be Boondocker on Boulder Mountain. It’s a challenging, adrenaline-pumping ride, and I love tackling it with friends while cheering them on.
If you could ride anywhere in the world, where would it be?
New Zealand is next on my bucket list!
What’s your go-to post-ride drink and snack?
Lately, I’ve been loving a nice cold bubbly water post-ride.
What do you hope your students take away from your coaching?
I want my students to have fun, gain confidence, and be patient with themselves—because progress takes time! Even if it takes 100 tries to master a skill, the effort is always worth it.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received—either in mountain biking or life?
“Don’t stop.” Whether you’re working on a tough feature, having an off day, or dealing with bad weather, just keep going. Keep trying!
