Weekly Beginner
This weekly mountain bike Beginner program is for women who have little or no experience on a mountain bike and would like to learn the fundamentals of riding in a fun, safe, professional, and supportive environment.
This program is offered once per week, for four consecutive weeks. Each week we will focus on a different skill. The lesson will start with an hour of skill development followed by a trail ride to practice what we’ve learned.
This weekly program is the perfect way to have an overview of mountain biking, and to improve your skills, to be more confident on your bike, and have fun with your new Shred Sisters friends!

- PM: 6:00pm- 8:30pm
- Calgary: 6:15pm- 8:45pm
- Fall programs: 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM. *The last two classes finish around 7:30 PM due to daylight.
- Ratio: 6 riders per instructor
- Cost: $360 + GST

Why You’ll Love This Course
Skills & Fitness Level Required
- All participants enrolled in a program in BC should have a cycling club membership where their program is taking place. Click on location below to get the information on which club you should have a membership.
- Must be comfortable riding doubletrack gravel trails and to expect to ride singletrack trail 90% of the time.
- Must have a mountain bike with minimum 2.3″ tires, front suspension, and disc brakes in good working condition that were serviced within the past year.

Beginner
Double track = two trails that run parallel to each other (also called a quad trail).
Single track = a narrow mountain bike trail that must be ridden single file.
Beginner Without Experience:
Who this is for
You’re new to singletrack mountain biking and excited to learn in a supportive, confidence-building environment. You’re comfortable riding on road, gravel, or packed dirt doubletrack and ready to progress to singletrack.
What you’re working on
Fundamental mountain bike skills, balance, braking, cornering, and trail awareness while riding mostly singletrack terrain.
Prerequisites
- Comfortable riding doubletrack gravel trails
- Expect to ride singletrack approximately 90% of the time

- You live a fairly sedentary life with little physical activity other than walking.
- You can handle a 1-hour bike ride on flat terrain at a relaxed pace.
- You can ride 1-day at a time then a day or two rest.
- Small, short hills are challenging to climb, but are sometimes manageable.
- You exercise on average 2-hour per week (including riding a mountain bike).

Cancellation Policy – Programs

- Cancellations submitted 14 days or more before the program start date will receive a full refund, minus an administration fee of 25% of the course cost.
- Cancellations with less than 14 days before the program start date will not be refunded or credited.
- If you cannot attend for medical reasons and notify us at least 14 days prior to the program start date, you will be eligible for a free transfer or credit, provided you submit a note from your doctor. The free transfer can only be used once.

- If you request a transfer 21+ days before the program start date and do it yourself through the registration software, there is no administration fee.
- If we process the transfer on your behalf, a 10% administration fee applies.
- Mistakes during registration: Free transfer within 48 hours of payment.
