Alison Barnfather

Coach in Bragg Creek & Calgary

A lover of mountain air with a good sense of humour, Alison instructs in Calgary & Bragg Creek. She obtained her PMBIA Level 1 Certification back in 2016 and is an instructor with and past president of the Spin Sisters Mountain Bike Club. Alison focuses first and foremost on FUN! Following that, what could be better than having students master solid foundational skills they can continue to build on as they fall more and more in love with mountain biking!

Alyssa Collins

Coach in Canmore

Blazing down the trails of Banff, AB on her trusted steed Joey (a Rocky Mountain Altitude not a horse!), Alyssa Collins wants to focus on you having fun on your bike. But not to worry, you’ll hear her coming, as she’s a self-proclaimed noisy rider. Curiosity drives Alyssa’s biking style, and having a background in both Massage Therapy and doing her yoga teacher training she really understands the foundation and body movements of biking.

Andrea Ell

Coach in Kimberley

Starting off with road biking in university, Andrea’s biking branched off and she fell in love with mountain biking. So much so that she moved to Kimberley, BC in order to be able to bike right from her back door. Andrea grew up in Saskatchewan, she also has a background in coaching rowing. An impressive rider, Andrea has even figured out how to simultaneously snack and ride (if you’re lucky enough to take a class with her, she might teach you!). Focusing on a little bit of practice going a long way, she works hard to have her students leave with new skills.

Anne-Marie Chantal

Coach in Bragg Creek & Calgary

Anne-Marie is an exceptionally energetic and excited rider who has settled in Calgary from Quebec. Falling in love with riding after a group of friends convinced her to try it, she’s always optimistic with a smile on her face and unlimited energy to boot! Her coaching is centered around providing feedback to help her students improve: slow down so they can speed up.

Audrey Duval

Coach in golden

Maybe you’ve seen some of her goofy Tip Tuesday videos online? Audrey is the founder & owner of Shred Sisters and is passionate about teaching. She loves to figure out different ways of explaining skills to connect with all learning styles! As an instructor, Audrey cares about her client’s goals and knows that technique is not all: “I like to understand where my clients are coming from and see how I can help them overcome their fears, do a feature, or ride a specific trail they didn’t think they could ride.”

Brittney Dickson

Coach in Golden

Brittney She spends her time coaching and teaching in the winter she was an extra lucky girl growing up. Raised on a big piece of property in southern BC, her family built mountain bike trails full of jumps and stunts all around the property. So, needless to say she was hooked at a young age.  She’s also the founder of Stay Wild Backcountry Skills!

Dayna Vroom

Coach in Canmore

We love Dayna. Not only was she a former student, but she has been riding bikes since she was a kid. Picking up her first ‘legit’ mountain bike in 2011, proud to have graduated from hand-me-down-bikes from her brother. Dayna began coaching with Shred Sisters in 2020, but she’s no newbie when it comes to teaching. With several years of instructing experience ranging from Hapkido (she’s a black belt!) to spin to weightlifting and even boot camp, she’s definitely got a ton of experience.

Erin Ashbacher

Erin started mountain biking in 2019 for a girls’ trip and discovered her love for trails. She has been coaching since 2022 and likes to blend fun with pushing limits. Croatia is her dream biking destination and her favourite trailside snack Hornby Bars. Erin believes in trying, trusting, and always having fun on two wheels!

Erin MacDonald

Calgary & Bragg Creek Coach

From road biking to dirt biking, Erin loved biking of all types–except downhill. She had a fear of downhill riding. However, taking a women’s focused mountain biking course changed her direction, built her confidence, and developed a love for the sport. The energy and feeling one gets from clearing a tricky section, the high fives at the bottom of the run, and of course the cold beers shared in the parking lot are just a few of the reasons that Erin loves the sport. With a background in coaching women’s soccer, coaching mountain biking is new to Erin and she is extremely excited to be joining the Shred Sisters team in Calgary. Come “SEND IT” with her this season!

Heather Rose

Raised in the Bow Valley, Heather now resides in the Columbia valley. Heather has been a coach for 5 years, focusing on youth and women development. Heather is an Advanced Care Paramedic, and is passionate about teaching others how to take calculated risk when enjoying the outdoors.  Heather loves to pair being silly, with a safe learning environment. In her free time, she can be found gravel riding, adventure riding, bike packing, or amateur enduro racing.

Jessica Bush

Canmore Coach

A long time coach with a lot of noteworthy qualifications, Canmore coach Jessica Bush fell in love with mountain biking while overseas in New Zealand. A calculated rider Jessica focuses on progressing by building skills in order to hit that next level rather than just throwing caution to the wind. With 10 years as a physiologist in elite sport, Jessica is an absolute asset to our team and a coach worth learning from. Focusing on empowering her students, Jessica wants to impart the same foundational experiences she gained from courses with her students.

Julie Beaulieu

Coach in Canmore

Meet Julie! Julie is a highly qualified and experienced coach with over two decades of experience in managing athlete and coach development. She holds several coaching certifications from national coaching associations and has a unique coaching style that emphasizes connecting with participants’ prior experience to facilitate effective skill transfer. Julie has also created and led multiple canoe clubs in Canada and has experience coaching at the national and junior world levels. She aims to instill confidence and curiosity in her students, helping them excel in mountain biking and beyond. With her exceptional leadership skills, Julie is a valuable addition to the Shred Sisters team.

Julie Gamache

Coach in Kimberley

As a coach, Julie is excited to bring her energetic and “challenge yourself” mentality to the Shred Sisters program and riders she will be working with. Working as a coach for 15 years, she has worked with all levels of riders and has helped many to become more confident mountain bikers while sharing her passion for the sport.

Laura Karl

Coach in Bragg Creek & Calgary

Laura been coaching with us since 2018, coming from a background in racing, raising her two children, downhill skiing and nursing! She started riding back in 2004 during a summer job at the Kananaskis Golf Course and dove in head first (no joke she’s coached diving too)—because of course biking is better than golf. With 3 seasons of ABA races and a handful of Enduro races under her belt, Laura races because she enjoys pushing herself more than anything.

Laura Mckenzie

Coach in Kimberley

The Skidster, aka Laura Has been riding since she was 12 years old. With a multitude of biking disciplnes under her belt, Laura coaches with a passion for cycling that is unmatched. Calling Kimberley, BC home not only does she coach mountain biking but also swimming! It’s these little ‘ah ha’ moments that I love about coaching and hope to bring to more riders. One simple little tip can improve the entire body position which in turn increases confidence on a bike.

Lindsay Glassford

Coach in Invermere

Lindsay Glassford started with road biking and a triathlon in 2007 in her native Ontario, but when she moved to Panorama in 2013 mountain biking quickly became her passion. Lindsay loves that she gets to see such beautiful places all while learning new things and pushing her limits. By day, she works for Live Feisty Media which focuses on endurance sports, sharing stories and perspectives from an empowered and active community. Lindsay also holds her BA in Kinesiology and is a certified Pedorthist.

Lynsey Dobish

Coach in Canmore

Lynsey been coaching with us since the start! As a coach, Lynsey enjoys working with riders who scared or nervous about trying new things because she has had to overcome these feelings herself. Lynsey is always pushing to improve her own skills and feels that she has a lot to share as a coach. Lynsey is an osteopath.

Maggie Fairholm

Maggie is a passionate mountain biker with a wealth of experience in the sport. She started mountain biking in 2015 and quickly became hooked, attending group rides with the Ottawa Mountain Bike Association and eventually becoming a coach herself. As a coach, Maggie’s goal is to help her students gain confidence in their abilities and progress in their riding in a safe and fun way. She wants her students to leave lessons feeling confident and empowered to tackle any challenges that come their way on future rides.

Maggie Malapad

Calgary & Bragg Creek

Meet Maggie, an experienced mountain biker from Calgary who has been riding for most of her life, but was introduced to mountain biking in her early 30’s. She takes a unique approach to coaching, recognizing different learning styles and incorporating humor, dance moves, cheers, and high-fives into her coaching sessions.

Meagan Noel

Meagan has been hooked on biking since 2010. She pedals for adventure, mental health and the thrill of ripping downhill. Meagan transformed her mountain bike journey by learning from other incredible women. As a coach, she’s on a mission to infuse confidence and a passion for biking in her students.

Misha Marechal

Since 2015, Misha’s been cycling through life with infectious laughter. Inspired by trailblazing women, she combines exercise with playfulness on the trails. Coaching with a unique adult-learner perspective, she strives to infuse every ride with a mix of improvement and fun. Renowned for her contagious laughter and trailside candy, Misha is dedicated to ensuring that rides are not only about progress but also about enjoying the journey.

Naeema Bhyat

Naeema turned childhood dreams into reality in 2017. Chasing chill vibes, she’s the queen of scenic rides and downhill thrills. As a mountain bike coach and skiing pro, she’s on a mission to make sports accessible for everyone. Naeema’s curious quirks include a love for the unknown, and did you know she aced a sprint triathlon on a mountain bike?

Revelstoke is Naeena’s trail haven, but Turkey’s her dream biking destination – think of great scenery, interesting trails, food, history, and water! With Naeema, every trail becomes a celebration. Snacks? Oh, her pack’s a feast with apples, trail mix, sandwiches, and chocolate. She coaches with a mantra of self-love and encouragement, proving that biking is all about fun and the joy of progress!

Nicole Romanow

Coach in Canmore

Many of our coaches are interdisciplinary—Nicole is no exception. Having spent a lot of her youth focused on competitive cross-country skiing, Nicole wasn’t necessarily looking to expand her focus to other sports. However, a friend of hers who competed in mountain biking struck up a deal with her: he would try skiing if she tried mountain biking. Although it was not her first time on a mountain bike and she had a general idea from cross-training with the ski team in the summer, she had never really given mountain biking her full attention or effort. After that fateful summer where she changed her tune with the coaxing of her friend, she was hooked.

Robyn Goldsmith

Coach in Revelstoke

Originally starting riding back in Kamloops, Robyn has now found herself in Revelstoke happily embedded in the incredible community of committed female riders. She is a composed rider who loves to focus on the opportunity for consistent improvement and skills development, which makes her an excellent coach. Beyond mountain biking, Robyn also coaches rock climbing, ice climbing, and canoeing. She is also the co-founder of Revelstoke Women’s Enduro. Get ready, this self-proclaimed queen of the dad-joke is ready to have you laughing while you’re learning and we at Shred Sisters are excited to have her on the team.

Sandy Chong

Coach in Calgary & Bragg Creek

Sandy’s riding has developed by surrounding herself with other female riders. Many of which are also from the Calgary area, Sandy draws inspiration from watching her fellow riders and friends push their own limits, which in turn challenges her to push her own. This same sentiment is what she strives to have ring true with her students. You really can do anything, if you happen to be struggling right now, it will ‘click’ one day and your entire outlook on riding will change–for the better! Sandy is looking forward to help you get your riding to the next level, and have fun while doing it.

Suzanne MacRae

Coach in Bragg Creek, Calgary, Chestermere & Crowsnest Pass

Suzanne’s approach to coaching is to teach her fellow female riders that it’s okay to be afraid and that failure is a natural part of learning and developing in any sport. She teaches her students not only how to technically approach a challenge but also mentally. She teaches her students how to visualize their line, approach challenges with positive thinking, and to never stop practicing.

Tanis Banks

Meet Tanis Banks, the carefree biking dynamo who kicked off her two-wheeled journey in 2000. Inspired by awesome girlfriends, she conquers trails with a hoot and a holler. As a coach, Tanis blends fun and excitement, helping riders feel strong and confident, and have a wheelie good time. With a racing background, yoga expertise, and a love for gummies, she’s on a mission to make every ride as enjoyable as her favourite trailside snack!

Terrie Batycki

Bragg Creek/ & Calgary Coach

Calling Cochrane, Alberta home, back in 2012 Terrie was re-introduced to single track mountain biking through her tight group of friends, as she developed her skill, she outgrew her first bike and upgraded; her mountain bike passion was ignited. During her 20 plus year career with the RCMP, she instructed at the Canadian Police College in Ottawa, various police training centers and corporate businesses in Western Canada.

Tracey Sherman

Coach in Bragg Creek & Calgary

Back in 2012, Tracey began volunteering as an assistant coach. She was able to learn more about her own riding through coaching others and found a sense of fulfillment seeing others master skill they never thought possible. Tracey is kind, passionate and a wealth of knowledge, she is been coaching with us since 2017.

Intro to Fat Biking - Dec. 2022Audrey expertly led us (3 women all fairly new to fat biking) through a series of skills along trails that gave us opportunities to practice each skill and incorporate all her pro tips along the way. Fun, encouraging, and empowering. A great day out in the cold, embracing winter on bikes. Yay!

The course was awesome! Very well thought out, the skills were broken down through drills and then we put them to use on jumps/drops. Audrey, the instructor, was awesome, she gave everyone personalized tips and took videos to show everyone what they looked like. We worked on multiple jumps/jump lines and a couple drops. Highly recommend!

Alyssa was an outstanding instructor. I’m a decent rider and have improved over time by just riding with people who are stronger than I. But she gave me the knowledge and confidence to go beyond. She is brilliant at explaining and breaking things down. There is no need to hesitate. Just book your course.

Just wrapped up the beginner course with Anne Marie out of Calgary. Wow, incredibly valuable and precisely the kind of course I’ve been after. The intimate group setting allowed the instructor to focus on each of us closely so we could work on progress and correcting bad habits. There was a natural female community feel right away. I think that comes from the tone set by Anne Marie right away. She’s always smiling and supportive and genuinely so excited to be there right alongside us as a team. My confidence on my bike has definitely grown and I’ve left with a heck of a lot of technique-understanding and skills that I definitely didn’t have before (even as far as understanding the mechanics of my bike). These classes are jammed with a perfect mix of learning and immediately putting into practice. Lots of drills and riding time. So well worth it and I look forward to the next level of classes with SS!

Just completed the weekly intermediate course with coach Dayna. An amazing 5 weeks with a great group of gals. Dayna is a great coach - able to confidently demo what she is teaching us and give individual positive instruction in a group setting. She chose a variety of trails to highlight what we were learning each week. I love taking the Shred Sister courses. Each level builds on the previous level and has contributed to my confidence and passion for mountain biking.

This was my first biking course ever, and our coach Alison was absolutely amazing. She was very thorough with her descriptions when teaching the skills, as well as provided a variety of options for people when out on the trail. The small group of six participants really made it a great learning environment and lots of feedback was provided to improve skill set. Totally new to mountain biking, a little (or more than a little) out of shape, and in no way feeling like I could conquer some of the trails, to say I was nervous when I got to my first class would be an understatement. But those nerves were quickly put to rest.Laura was a super fun, and skilled instructor who was always so encouraging and positive. The skills, knowledge and most importantly, confidence that I gained during the course has been invaluable. Every class was something new, complete with new challenges and new things to conquer. And conquer we did!I came away with new skills, a whole lot more confidence and a group of new friends! I signed up for Shred Sisters beginner course with the hopes of gaining the confidence to downhill bike but I have gotten so much more from it. Going back to basics and learning proper techniques has been incredibly beneficial for me (and my bike!) The foundation has been re-built giving me far more control. My confidence has skyrocketed I am overjoyed to take my new found skills to the trail.I would ABSOLUTELY sign up for another course through Shred Sisters. The group dynamic and overall fun atmosphere of learning with women was incredibly empowering! So happy I joined this biking community and that I was able to learn from Shred Sisters talented & knowledgeable instructors.

I cannot say enough good about this program. If you are a beginner, want to take your riding to the next level or simply hang out with a cool crew with a 100% guarantee your skills will improve without you even knowing it, take this course. There is no need to be intimidated. This course is designed by women, for woman and every bit of it has been broken down so you get everything out of this you could possibly want. I gained more confidence in the first three hours than I gained in my first year of riding.

I did an intermediate weekend course with Shred Sisters in Bragg Creek and it was a great consolidation of skills that you need for those true blue/soft black trails! I learned a couple of game changing skills and refined other techniques that I've been working on. The instruction was very clear and included tips on maintenance and safety. Also - so much fun! Laura was a very upbeat, positive instructor that gave us each individual attention. Thank you Shred Sisters!
